Dr. Meng obtained his Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from the University of Delaware in 2016, under the direction of Prof. Fioralba Cakoni and Prof. David Colton. He held postdoctoral positions at the University of Minnesota (2016--2017) and the University of Michigan (2017-2020). During COVID19 pandemic, he became an assistant professor (tenure-track) in 2020 in the  Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and an associate professor (2021--2023 tenure-track, 2023 -- 2024 with tenure). Starting 2024, he has been a senior research associate in the Department of Mathematics at Virginia Tech.

In general, Dr. Meng is broadly interested in applied and computational mathematics, inverse problems, and data science. His long-term research goal is to work as an applied mathematician to address interdisciplinary challenges spanning science, engineering, and technology.  See the research page for more information.
